The webshop is back!

Yes! The webshop is back with 6 prints available at the moment. Prints are available in different sizes and materials, check them out here!

I intend to add originals and more prints before summer but if you can’t wait that long > send me an e-mail and let me know what you’re looking for.

Most illustrations, paintings and pictures on this website can be turned into art prints and I’ld love to advice you on size and material choice. If you send me a picture of the wall you want to hang the work I can even send you a mock-up. (hang a piece of A4 paper to your wall as a reference for size)

And now, back to work for my next expo! I don’t have a fixed date or location yet but it will be in Antwerp at the end of March or April. Follow me on Facebook, Instagram or subscribe to my VIP mailinglist to stay informed!

Workshop Painting in Antwerp

Whoop! I’m organising a workshop painting in Antwerp on January 20th!

I got the idea to do this during my last open studio when people told me they’d love to paint but didn’t feel they where creative, or they didn’t know where to begin. I strongly believe that everybody can be creative and I’ld love to show you how.

Do you want to join? Click here for more information!

The workshop will be in Dutch so all information is also in Dutch. There are only 6 places available so don’t wait to long to subscribe!

This will be fun! I promise! 😊

Whoohoo! After a great Expo / Open Studio Weekend in October I’m happy to announce that there will be a new Open Studio day on December 10th! :)

My doors will open again between 13h & 20h and you are welcome to come & have a look!

No big party this time (I’m still recovering from the last one 😉) but a cosy afternoon with a cup of coffee or a glas of wine, good company & a chance to buy an original Christmas present for the ones you love

Are you in? Hope so…

WoW! What a weekend! :)

A big thank you to everybody who visited my expo/open studio last weekend.

Thank you for being there or wanting to be there and sending me lovely messages, for supporting me by buying more than I hoped, for talking to me about the things you felt when looking at my work, for giving feedback & compliments, for dancing with me and so much more. ❤️

Also a big thank you to Isle of the Sky who brought magic into the air on Friday Night, to Derrick for the delicious food, Brasserie fratelli for the Prosecco & Wine and to everybody who helped in one or the other way.

The weekend couldn’t have been the same without you all.

X, Kathleen.

Expo / Open Studio October 2017

Okay! After looking at the options for renting a space in Antwerp to have my exhibition I’ve decided not to rent a space.

Instead I’m inviting you to the place where I (& Tim) live and work: MIST images & design.

I’ll be showing new & older paintings & illustrations and you’ll be able to see where I work. On Friday Isle of the Sky will be performing while we taste some deliciousness by Derrick & drink a glass of wine or prosecco thanks to Brasserie fratelli.

On Saturday & Sunday there will be cake, coffee & tea!

Please let me know if you can make it on the Facebook event page or by mail so I know what to expect. (more or less?)

Looking very much forward to see you there!

X, Kathleen.

Hours: Friday from 18h until …
Saturday & Sunday from 14h until 19h.

… and now I’ld better go and paint some more because there’s lots of things I want to show you that are still in my head instead of on a canvas.

Little Miss Beth Blue

Finished this small (20×20 cm) painting on wood, embellished with gold leaf and covered with epoxy resin last week & plan to make a small series like this one.

At first I was a bit disappointed because there’s some dust and a small hair in the resin but by photographing it I started embracing the imperfections and celebrate them.

Love it now! Hope you do too… 😊

10 benefits of art in your home or work space

Colour your home - webshop Kathleen Steegmans
Do you have art in your home or work space?

Our walls are filled with my & my partners work but we’ve recently started buying work from other artists and finding that quite exciting. :) Here’s a list with 10 benefits of art in your home or work place.

  • Art is a powerful form of expression not only for the artists who create it, but also for those who own it. It allows people to express their personality and represent their beliefs, feelings, hopes and philosophies in a socially (and visually) acceptable and redeeming way.

  • Art encourages dialogue, it gives people permission to share thoughts, feelings, ideas and impressions that they might not ordinarily share.

  • Art let’s you ask questions, introspect, think about new ideas, experience fresh new perspectives and maybe most important, it let’s us take brief moments out of our busy lives to reflect on something other than our daily existences.

  • Buying art supports artists directly, allowing them to continue with their creative process, which in turn continues to improve the quality of life for all of us.

  • Children are fascinated by art. Art prompts children to fantasise, explore, imagine, expand their perceptions of reality and to dream of other possibilities. It teaches them how to be creative and have fun in life.

  • Owning original art has unequivocally positive effects on those who own it. Owning something that’s all yours is an exciting thing.

  • Art improves the quality of our lives and personalises our living and work space. Think about what you feel when you are in a room with bare walls or a room with walls full of art. Art will give it character and warmth, transforming any room into a unique, beautiful and engaging environment.

  • Original works of art have a certain energie about them that reproductions and mass-produced decorative items simply don’t have. You know just by looking at it that another human being made it, and not a machine.

  • A work of art is not only visually appealing, but it also shows the personality, creativity, insight, inspiration, technical mastery and attitudes of the artist who created it. People who own art are not only able to experience, but also be inspired and uplifted by these qualities on an ongoing basis.

  • Though investment purposes shouldn’t be the main incentive for buying art, it doesn’t hurt that a piece you bought ten years ago can double in value. ;)

Original work will be added to my webshop by the end of summer.

Instagram Stories

When Instagram introduced Stories in August 2016 I didn’t really like it. What was the use of sharing something that would only be visible for 24 hours?

In the last months however, by following other people with great stories and making my own I’m starting to love it.

Posting a story is a great way to post things that you wouldn’t post in your feed and show a different side of your personality & life. It’s like a digital behind the scenes collage of moments.

These are some of the highlights of the past months. I plan to make a lot more so follow me on if you want to see them. :)

X, Kathleen.

Hello June! :)

What about these for a present?

Entering the Bernard-Massard competition last months gave me some new ideas and I would love some feedback from you! 😊 - Would you buy a giftbox for wine? - Would you prefer a cheaper price with no exclusivity or would you prefer a limited edition so that they are more special, considering the price would be (quiet a bit) higher when they are limited edition. - What would you pay for a box like this? Maximum & minimum price? - Would you prefer buying the wine yourself or would you like a box that has a bottle in it? - If you want the wine included, would you like a budget wine or a more exclusive wine? - Would you prefer buying a box in my webshop or in a shop that sells wine? You would help me a lot by answering one or more of these questions (in English or Dutch)! Thanks in advance!

Gift boxes for the end of year?

Unfortunately I din’t win the Bernard-Massard contest but it did give me another idea. I’m thinking about designing a series of gift boxes for the end of year and sell them through a selection of quality wine stores & webshops. In the video on the left you can see two proto-types.

I’ll be working out a business plan in summer and if things look good I’ll hope to start producing in September. Want to keep informed? Subscribe to my mailinglist! If you own a wine store and are interested in selling the boxes, feel free to send me an e-mail.

A big thank you to everybody who liked & shared the contest! <3

On May 11th, I made a painting and told my vision behind it on a stage in front of +100 people during the kick-off event of Federatie Kinderopvang.

A few weeks before a friend asked me why I didn’t do live video’s while I was painting or drawing. I told her that I didn’t like it when people saw my work in an early stage because it can be quit messy and I’m a perfectionist who only likes the end result. Besides this I’ve never felt comfortable with people looking over my shoulder when I’m working. I surprised myself when I said yes to this assignment. ;)

Quite a big move out of my comfort zone but differently worth it!

Some of my prints can now be seen in the Home.made.stories,

What’s coming?

I’ll be re-arranging my webshop in the following weeks. I’ll take out 50 of the 100 days prints because it’s just to much and add some original paintings. The option to order a different color print will also be removed. If you want this option just send me an e-mail! :)

Besides this I’ll be working on some new small paintings which will be for sale in summer.

And maybe a collection of small golden illustrations in a limited edition, and the wine boxes of course, and, …,  whiiieeeeeh! I’ve got more ideas then days in a year and I’ve been known for changing my plans so we’ll see! ;)

Have a great day or night!
