On April 4th the 100 day project on Instagram will start again. I’ve been thinking a lot about what to do this year and after about a 100 ideas I think I decided. (yes, there’s lot’s of thinking going on ;))

Last year I planned to make a small illustration every day but after a few days I found this method of drawing in pencil, tracing in ink and correcting and colouring in Photoshop. This took way to much time each day and although I wasn’t happy with each drawing, I was happy to have a series of illustrations in the same style.

This way of drawing feels very controlled however, while I really want to draw (& paint) more freely again. For this reason this year I’ll be experimenting with different materials like ink, bamboo pen and brushes, acrylics and watercolours. Trying to let my hand “float” over the paper again rather then forcing it on to the paper…

For the subject I considered drawing street views of Antwerp, objects or flowers & plants but I always come back to wanting to draw people, that’s something that won’t change for now. I’ll use the hashtag #100daysofpeopleonpaper and can’t wait to go paper shopping! ;)

I plan to use a selection of these drawings as the base for a series of new paintings which I plan to finish by the end of summer so I can have a new exhibition in September, October or November.

Exciting!

Follow me on Instagram to see this project evolve. :)
